Putting the 'alley' back in The Mohawk Valley!
The Bentwood Rockers are an acoustic duo specializing in old-time country, hokum, Piedmont blues and traditional folk: music from the early days of the recording industry.
Between them, Bill Ackerbauer and Roland Vinyard play a variety of stringed instruments -- fiddle, guitars, many kinds of banjos, mandolin, autoharp, harmonica. They have a stage presence that is both casual and engaging, scholarly and humorous.
Bill, a newspaper editor and writing teacher, is married with two young sons. He has performed throughout the Capital Region as a solo act and with the bluegrass-gospel group Durey Creek.
Roland is an agricultural real estate tycoon and the married father of three grown children. He has played music for way too many years, both solo and with a variety of groups. For more information about Roland's solo endeavors, see www.thebardrocks.com.
Bill and Roland both live in New York’s beautiful Mohawk Valley. Performing as The Bentwood Rockers gives them a outlet for their mutual obsession with the sublime rustic-roots sounds of the 1920s and 30s.
